The Annual General Meeting of Contemporary Music Victoria Inc. ('Music Victoria') will be held upstairs at the Corner Hotel, 57 Swan Street, Richmond, Victoria, 3121 from 6:00pm sharp, Tuesday 4 December 2018 (doors from 5.30pm).

All current financial members of Music Victoria are welcome and encouraged to attend. If your membership has lapsed, you must renew by 5.00pm on Friday 23 November 2018 and be an approved financial member at the time of the AGM if you wish to attend or vote at the AGM.

Members of Music Victoria who are financial members as at 23 November 2018 are eligible to vote in the election of Directors to the Board. Note there is one vote per membership (e.g. one vote per individual membership, and one vote if you have a band, small business, non-profit, venue, gold or platinum membership - vote to be given by an authorised person).

Members will be able to vote on the election of three (3) members to the Board.

Australia’s largest publicly voted music awards The Age Music Victoria Awards is back for its 13th year in 2018. Boasting a massive night of live music and accolades, the 2018 Awards will take place on Wednesday 21 November during Melbourne Music Week.

From now until Friday 9 November, Australia’s music community can vote for their favourite music contributions of the year in the 10 publicly-voted categories for Best Album, Best Band, Best Song, Best Solo Artist, Best Male Musician, Best Female Musician, Best Breakthrough Act, Best Live Band, Best Small Venue (under 500 capacity) and Best Large Venue (over 500 capacity).

Twenty-one Victorian music venues have received support for soundproofing projects through the Victorian Government’s Good Music Neighbours program.

‘’Music Victoria is thrilled that 21 venues have received more than $250,000 to attenuate their venues and plan for improved amenity with neighbours. Music fans will be guaranteed to continue to enjoy Victoria’s rich tapestry of music at venues from Brunswick East to Ballarat East and we thank the State Government for its continued investment in live music through the Music Works program.” remarked Music Victoria CEO Patrick Donovan.

13 Aug 2018 Protecting Meredith’s Music Lovers From Ticket Scalping

The Meredith Music Festival and Golden Plains have become the first music events to be declared official ‘’major events’’ under the State Government’s new anti-scalping laws.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events John Eren declared the iconic Meredith Musical Festival a ‘’major event’’ under the new Major Events Act 2009 due to the expected strong demand for tickets.

Music Victoria was involved in meetings with promoters and the State Government last year which led to the new Major Events Act 2009 which makes it illegal for anyone to re-sell tickets to a declared major event for more than 10 per cent above the original value. Penalties can range from $806 to up to $483,500 depending on the nature of the offences.

Co-presented by Triple R 102.7FM and PBS 106.7FM, Music Victoria and The Age have been working hard behind the scenes on some exciting new changes to be announced in October. Submissions are now open until midnight Friday 31 August.
