The Meredith Music Festival and Golden Plains have become the first music events to be declared official ‘’major events’’ under the State Government’s new anti-scalping laws.
Minister for Tourism and Major Events John Eren declared the iconic Meredith Musical Festival a ‘’major event’’ under the new Major Events Act 2009 due to the expected strong demand for tickets.
Music Victoria was involved in meetings with promoters and the State Government last year which led to the new Major Events Act 2009 which makes it illegal for anyone to re-sell tickets to a declared major event for more than 10 per cent above the original value. Penalties can range from $806 to up to $483,500 depending on the nature of the offences.Read More
