CEO Report - December 2016

22 Dec 2016

Dear members and subscribers,

What an amazing year for Victorian music.
At Music Victoria, we started the year undertaking the Victorian regional audit on behalf of the Victorian state government, and have expanded our programs and staff to run the Good Music Neighbours sound attenuation program, and the Live Music Professionals program to assist mid-career independent promoters, venue managers, owners and band bookers across the state.
The Age Music Victoria Awards 2016 was the best one to date, and we were also recently involved in the establishment of theAustralian Music Vault. Patrick will sit on the advisory committee for The Vault to ensure it celebrates the diversity of our wonderful music scene.
Gender diversity has been at the forefront of our operations this year, and we led the way by publishing our new Gender Diversity Policy. You can read our first report on our annual gender targetshere. Patrick also sits on the taskforce addressing sexual harassment in Victorian live music venues, which is working towards developing initiatives to encourage safe venues for everyone.
Thanks to Creative Victoria's Music Works grants program, more Victorian acts and industry practitioners received grants to further their careers than ever before.
Despite sadly losing some music greats, we hope 2016 was a prosperous year for you all, and we thank you for your support. We look forward to hitting the ground running in 2017, and working towards consolidating our reputation as the Live Music Capital of the World.

Happy festive season - Paddy, Nick, Chloe, Shaun, Sarah, Alyse and Kat
