Australian Institute of Music
Founded by Dr Peter Calvo in 1968, the Australian Institute of Music (AIM) has been a major player in education and training for the Australian music industry, production, performing arts and entertainment management fields for nearly 50 years. AIM courses deliver accredited programs and unique industry relevant education. Studies are undertaken in trimesters, offering accelerated pathways to graduation - fulltime Bachelors take 2 years (6 trimesters) and Diplomas take 1 year and 4 months (4 trimesters). All teachers are working industry professionals.
AIM Melbourne opened in January 2014 and is centrally located in the CBD at 120 King Street, Melbourne. The campus is one block from Southern Cross Station which is the major V Line hub (many of our students come from Geelong, Bendigo and Ballarat). Our 4 level campus is also close to trams, buses and Flinders Street Station. As well as housing classrooms, ensemble rehearsal rooms, private practice rooms, music production studios and lecture halls, our historic building forms a U-Shape around the Peter Calvo Auditorium (PCA) - AIM's world-class performance venue that can seat up to 200 people.
