We are very excited to announce an addition to the Music Victoria team in Shaun Adams, the new Good Music Neighbours - Industry Liaison.
As a result of the launch of this fantastic state government initiative in partnership with Creative Victoria and the national Live Music Office in May 2016, the program needed a great music industry professional with solid knowledge of issues facing Victorian live music venues, including sound management and neighbourhood amenity issues. Shaun will provide part time support and advice to Victorian venues and facilitate a better understanding of live music noise management throughout the year, as well as assist venues in applying for matched funding for good sound management in the lead up to and during annual funding rounds.
He can be reached at email@example.com or on (03) 9686 3411. Music Victoria congratulates and welcomes Shaun to the team!

Dear members and subscribers,
Over the last 12 months there has been a lot of work going on behind the scenes building a case for more support for contemporary music from the Federal Government.
The Australian Music Industry Network (AMIN, chaired by MV's CEO Patrick Donovan) released a statement calling on the parties to create a new $5 million Contemporary Music Fund. This Fund would support:
- increased export opportunities for artist;
- audience development;
- education programs that encourage greater involvement in both live and recorded music;
- regional touring; and
- and the funding of Music Australia and AMIN to continue their work for the industry.

AMIN urges political parties to endorse its proposal for a $5 million Contemporary Music Fund. The contemporary music sector in Australia is big business. It contributes up to $6 billion in revenue to the Australian economy every year and creates close to 65,000 jobs (source: Music Australia). Recent national research proves that for every $1 million spent on live music, $3 million is returned back into the broader community (source: Live Music Office), and nine new jobs are generated (source WAM/ECU 2016).Read More

The PPCA and the Australia Council for the Arts today announced the recipients of six grants totalling $75,000 offered under a joint initiative between the two organisations. The partnership offers assistance to Australian artists to create new sound recordings, and we are super proud of the Victorian recipients - jazz extraordinaire and composer and ARIAwinner Barney McAll and Sean Congues with Northeast Party House. We can't wait to hear their new sonic creations! Congrats to all the recipients!
