CEO Report March 2016

31 Mar 2016

Dear members and subscribers,

Thank you to everyone who renewed or became a member for the first time over our recent membership drive.  Congrats to the lucky prize winners who are all listed below.  You will receive your membership packs in the mail over the next week and this monthly newsletter will appear in your inbox at the end of every month.

Your membership fees don’t just contribute towards state advocacy issues, but national agendas.  Music Vic CEO Patrick Donovan chairs the Australian Music Industry Network (AMIN), which is a collective of state and territory peak bodies AUS wide.
AMIN has today made a submission to the Senate Committee inquiry into a national approach to alcohol fuelled violence, arguing for exemptions for live music venues.  It has also contributed toMusic Australia’s National Contemporary Business Plan, which is the most comprehensive document presented to the federal government by the music industry.  Backed by a case for tax offsets built by business consultants EY (formerly Ernst & Young), it calls for holistic investment for the music industry across a range of portfolios including innovation, tourism and small business, as well as support for initiatives including a new national music TV show.
This advocacy work is vital because the Victorian music industry needs a robust national industry and touring circuit to support sustainable careers here and abroad.

Check out the rest of the newsletter for industry news and updates.

See you in the moshpit - Paddy, Nick and Chloe.
